Vintage Chest of Drawers: Custom Mix of Chalk Paint

Create a vintage worn finish with paint.

I found this chest of drawers in a thrift shop. It had some surface damage but was otherwise in good working order. I wanted to freshen up the finish while still keeping its worn vintage charm.


I prepared a custom mix of Duck Egg Blue and Paris Grey (about 50/50).

Mix equal parts Paris Grey and Duck Egg blue chalk paint.

The result is a soft grey with blue undertones. (Or blue with grey undertones -- you decide.) I applied this to the side panels and drawer fronts.

The top and trim is painted with a base coat of coco, followed by a light coat of Old White with an additional Coco dry brushed over the top.

There was natural wear from use over time, so I followed that pattern when determining where to apply distressing to the paint.
