Birdhouses Painted with Chalk Paint

How to update thrift store birdhouses.

Today I'm sharing a few birdhouses that I painted for some Spring decor for my booth. I slightly varied the painting technique on each of the projects. I'll keep this post short and sweet, so I won't go into too many details of the process but rather let the photo collages tell the story.

Pink and White Birdhouse

This birdhouse was originally white with a green roof. I painted the base in Antoinette pink and the top in Old White. I lightly sanded the details and then applied soft clear wax followed by dark wax.

Rustic Blue Birdhouse

This birdhouse started as a plain unfinished wood. I stained the wood Java Gel and then applied Louis Blue to the base and Cream to the top. I sanded back the paint for a rustic weathered finished and then sealed with a glaze.

Pink Birdhouse

This birdhouse was originally painted white with printed flowers. I applied Country Grey to the roof, Scandinavian Pink on the main body, and Chateau Grey on the base. It was sealed with clear wax followed by dark wax with specks of brown acrylic paint. I was inspired to give this color scheme a try based on a project painted by Jonathan Marc Mendez. I liked it so well that I used it on another project that I'll share soon.
